Hi, I’m Sally, from Rainbow House.
If you are visiting Rainbow Beach and spending a few days here, I’ve put together a simple guide to what’s on in Rainbow Beach this July 2026.
☀️ JULY AT A GLANCE
July is one of the best times of year to visit Rainbow Beach. The winter weather is usually sunny, dry and perfect for exploring the outdoors. It’s peak whale season, the beaches are ideal for fishing, and the cooler temperatures make walking, 4WD adventures and sightseeing much more enjoyable. While school holidays bring a lively atmosphere, there’s still plenty of space to relax and enjoy everything the region has to offer.
🎉 WHAT’S ON
🛍️ Rainbow Beach Markets – 11 July | Tin Can Bay Markets – 18 July
Both local markets run from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm and are a great way to start the day with coffee, fresh produce, handmade gifts and a wander through the local stalls.
🎶 Rainbow Beach Sports Club – Live Music
Enjoy local live music on Friday and Saturday nights at the Rainbow Beach Sports Club. It’s a great place for dinner, a drink and a relaxed evening with family and friends.
🐋 Whale Watching Season
July is one of the best months to spot humpback whales as they migrate along the Queensland coastline. Keep an eye out from the beach, Carlo Sand Blow or the headlands, or book a local whale watching tour for an unforgettable experience.

🌈 LOOKING AHEAD
Planning ahead gives you more choice of accommodation, especially during winter when Rainbow Beach is one of Queensland’s favourite coastal destinations.
🏃 Rainbow Beach Trail Festival – 8 August
One of Queensland’s most scenic trail running events returns to Rainbow Beach. Runners from around the state tackle courses through the coloured sands, coastal forests and beaches, creating a great atmosphere around town for the weekend. Even if you’re not participating, it’s a fantastic weekend to soak up the energy and cheer on the competitors.
🎣 Winter Fishing
August is an excellent month for beach fishing, with tailor, bream, whiting, dart and flathead all commonly caught along the coastline.
🐳 Peak Whale Season
Whale sightings continue right through to October, making July and August some of the best months to visit.
Rainbow House is the perfect base — close to everything, but quiet enough to come back and relax after a day exploring the Cooloola Coast.
